Neighbourhood Safer Places - Assessment Guidelines The following is the CFA Assessment Guidelines for Neighbourhood Safer Places (NSP). The guideline sets out the criteria to be applied by CFA in relation to assessing the suitability of potential Neighbourhood Safer Places.

At the request of a municipal council, CFA will assess the suitability of a proposed NSP, and advise the council in relation to its suitability as an NSP based on this criteria. Council will, through its Municipal Emergency Planning Committee, further consider the use of the space as an NSP taking into account a broader range of issues such as access and owner consent before formally designating the NSP.

Residential subdivision Water Supply Requirements Statement Residential subdivision applications that require a road to be made are sent to CFA when they do not meet water supply requirements.

For developers this may delay a subdivision application.

A developer can state that a proposed subdivision meets water supply requirements.

Requirements for Water Supplies and Access for Subdivisions in Residential 1 and 2 and Township Zones

Residential subdivisions must be designed and located to provide ready access by fire trucks to structures and water supplies. These water supply and access requirements for subdivision are a planning tool for permit applicants and municipalities. They outline fire safety requirements to cope with structure fires and assist with the design and approvals process for residential subdivisions.
